Airpark Village has purchased Community Airpark near downtown Ft Collins, CO

September 11, 2006—Airpark Village LLC has completed the purchase the Community Airpark and surrounding assemblage. Plans are underway to market a Research Campus. This is an assemblage of 4 parcels totaling the equivalent of 66 city blocks of urban infill development land. The owner plans to market this property to developers as a National Research Campus. Last April, this site was approved for an employment-zoning district. This allows for millions of square feet of mixed uses including residential, office, hotel, retail, labs, restaurants, medical, clubs, industrial and other commercial uses. The development density has a FAR of 1:1. Additional ground is available.

Research Campus

The research campus is envisioned as mini Los Alamos research environment growing a mixed-use village with a population of 12,000, including a retirement community sure to attract baby boomers wanting a creative lifestyle. The research campus will produce R&D for new infrastructures to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. Examples include:  transport, robotics engines, conservation, renewable energy, water, and automation. Whether we wait for the economic strangulation of increasing gas prices or suffer the sudden interruptions of oil from hurricanes, terrorism, worn-out pipelines or war in the Middle East, our national economy is at stake in the transition away from oil dependence. DOE predicts it will take many trillions of dollars to replace our dependence on foreign oil. Such is the need for a research campus to experiment and practice with new infrastructure.
