The world has never face a problem like the declining supply of oil. It will be abrupt and revolutionary. It will not be temporary. There are 10,000 products based on oil such as plastic and asphalt. The name given this problem by the oil industry is "Oil Peaking" and it  will grow into a huge disruption to the economy and requires massive mitigation more than a decade before new technologies can have an impact.
