6.0 CONCLUSIONS

This site characterization investigation indicates that the aerial extent of soil contamination appears to be limited to the area adjoining Borings B-I and B-?. It is unknown if soil contamination extends beneath the building pad, but no soil contamination was identified on the other side of the building pad. Soil contamination appears to extend vertically from near ground level to approximately 10 feet bgs in the assumed source location. Concentrations of five contaminants exceed regulatory standards; however, several of the applicable standards depend on the type of redevelopment (unrestricted-residential, commercial, industrial) planned for the site.
Groundwater contamination also appears to be horizontally limited to the area near borings B-1/B-7 and migrating east/northeasterly with trace contaminant concentrations existing at MW-1 The chloroform and toluene identified at MW-5 does not appear to be related to the release at the B-1/B-7 area. Concentrations of chloroform and toluene at MW-5 are below regulatory standards.
